The Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences was established affiliated
with Ankara University on 20 July 1982. It started postgraduate education
first with 17 major departments of the Faculties of Science and Agriculture
for the purpose of regulating, implementing and monitoring postgraduate
education in the fields of basic and engineering sciences at the Faculties
of Science and Agriculture. Later the number increased with the participation
of new other departments. Our Graduate School is, today, carrying out
postgraduate education activities in 26 major departments which are based
in the faculties of Agriculture, Engineering, Science and School
of Home Economics.
There are a total of 488 lecturers 293 of whom are professors, 130 associate professors and 61 assistant professors assigned for postgraduate education at the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science. Up to the present, 5348 students have completed MSc and 1831 PhD studies. Currently a total of 2572 students have been enrolled by the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science. 1687 of them are studying to get a MSc degree (894 based on a thesis and 793 without a thesis) and 885 others to get a PhD degree. All of our graduates have been taught by distinguished academicians and the majority are now employed both in government offices and private sector. We are proud of the success they have already achieved and are continuing to achieve. Having ever relied on the principle of the universality of science, the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science has, since 1984, had as many as 160 graduates of foreign nationality 99 of whom have obtained a degree in MSc and 61 in PhD. 126 foreign students are currently continuing to study in postgraduate subjects at the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science. |
